Miranda Lambert, the reigning queen of sass and heartbreak anthems, is back with a new album, a new outlook, and a surprising new songwriting partner: her husband, Brendan McLoughlin.
It all started during those long, uncertain days of lockdown. Like many couples, Miranda and Brendan found themselves with ample time on their hands.
And while some resorted to baking bread or binge-watching TV shows, this musically-gifted pair turned to songwriting.
“Everyone was at home, bored, and I’m a songwriter so I’m like, ‘Let’s write songs!’” Miranda recalled during a candid chat on Bunnie Xo's podcast, Dumb Blonde.
Brendan, a former NYPD officer, was initially hesitant. "I don’t know how to write songs," he admitted.
But Miranda, never one to back down from a challenge, encouraged him. “Yeah you can, you can do it," she insisted.
And with that, the guitars came out, the wine flowed, and the creative sparks began to fly.
"He’s actually really good," Miranda gushed about her husband's hidden talent. "Like he has some really good lines. I mean, being a New York police officer, he’s lived enough life to like, have some good lines in here.
