It’s not every day that country music and mob dramas collide, but Vince Gill recently shared a funny moment involving the late star James Gandolfini that brought two entertainment worlds together in a surprisingly lighthearted way.
The story unfolded back in 2005, when the CMA Awards took a bold step and relocated from Nashville to New York City for the first time. As Vince Gill prepared to present Glen Campbell’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, he decided to break the ice with the crowd, and especially Gandolfini, by mimicking a classic New York mobster accent. As Gill later recounted, he walked on stage and confidently greeted the audience with a “Hey, how you doin’?” in his best Italian-American New Yorker impression.
