Country music queen Miranda Lambert is making waves with her upcoming album, "Postcards From Texas." But it's not just her signature sass and soulful vocals that have fans buzzing. The album features a surprise songwriting collaboration: Lambert's husband, Brendan McLoughlin, who just landed his first-ever songwriting credit.
"Dammit Randy": A Song Born From a Playful Challenge
The story of how McLoughlin, a retired NYPD officer, ended up co-writing the song "Dammit Randy" is a testament to his playful personality and his willingness to step outside his comfort zone. It all started with a bit of good-natured boasting.
"Writing’s not that hard! It’s easy,” McLoughlin told Lambert and her co-writer Jesse Frasure one day.
Frasure, not one to back down from a challenge, decided to put McLoughlin's words to the test.
“So he made Brendan come in and do a literal write with me, and Jesse and Brendan,"
Lambert shared on the "Dumb Blonde" podcast. "Like, he had tracks pulled up and he made Brendan sit there… he came from the golf course, he was in his golf outfit, and we were there for like four and a half hours, writing."
The experience was a humbling one for McLoughlin, who quickly realized that songwriting wasn't as easy as he'd initially thought.
