Sofia Vergara, known for her vibrant personality and infectious laughter on "America's Got Talent," experienced a moment of pure emotion during the recent season. One particular audition moved her so deeply that she was "nearly brought to tears" by the sheer talent and raw emotion on display.
A Moment of Magic
Vergara, in her second season as an "AGT" judge, witnessed a performance that transcended the typical audition.
Jimmie Herrod, a singer from Portland, took the stage and delivered a soulful rendition of "Tomorrow" from the musical "Annie." While Simon Cowell initially dismissed the song as "the worst song in the world," Herrod's performance proved to be a revelation, captivating the judges and audience alike.
A Golden Buzzer Moment
Vergara, deeply moved by Herrod's performance, knew instantly that she needed to push the Golden Buzzer, sending him directly to the live shows.
"Jimmie's performance was so powerful and he completely blew me away," Vergara recalls. "His voice, his presence, the song — it was all incredible!" the "Modern Family" alum recalls. "Every part of me just knew that I needed to push the Golden Buzzer. I absolutely loved his performance and he deserved it!"
