Cats often carry their favorite toys in their mouths or play with them, and there are a few reasons why they do this. One reason is that cats have an instinct to compensate for not being able to hunt real prey. They see their toys as prey and engage in a game of "hunt and capture." After catching their toy, they may carry it around to show off their achievement. This behavior is not uncommon and shows the emotional connection cats can have with their toys. I remember my grandma's cat doing something similar by cradling her toy as if it were her own kitten. It was so cute that I found myself smiling while watching.
