Susie Myerson, played by the award-winning actress Alex Borstein, is a primary character and one of the most significant arcs in the critically acclaimed series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She starts from a down-beat theater manager to becoming Midge Maisel's (our protagonist's) manager and confidante. Interestingly, the storyline hints that Susie may take a villainous turn in the upcoming season five, but there is a glimmer of hope for redemption in her arc.
Season four set the stage for villainous aspect of Susie's character. She was introducing some questionable methods in managing Midge's blossoming stand-up comedy career. There was an illicit booking strategy involving bribes in the subplot, which appeared to be stepping stones into crime. Additionally, her actions showed significant disregard for Midge's feelings. She made deals behind Midge's back, showing that she was willing to sabotage relationships for professional gain.
Luckily for Susie, Maisel's writing has always been known for its surprising turns and emotional depth, offering every character a full range of human experiences, complete with upsides and downsides. Even if Susie's turn might appear villainous, it doesn't mean she can't redeem herself.
In the expected upcoming season, Susie's character has the potential for redemption, especially since she possesses qualities that have been critical for the show right from the start.
