And on Friday, at an intimate dinner at the Château Marmont in L.A., the actress and the jeweler took their partnership to the next level with the debut of Roberts’ first-ever collection created in collaboration with the brand.
The Chopard x Julia Roberts collection started with an incredibly rare 6,225 carat emerald that was discovered in a Zambian mine in 2021. Chopard acquired the stone and named it “Chopard Insofu”(“insofu” means elephant in Bemba, the language of the people living in the region).
With such a special gem in their possession, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard Caroline Scheufele knew they had to do something big with it.
Like, Julia Roberts big.
“When I heard it was the biggest, I thought, that’s the only way Caroline rolls. She's like, 'If it's not the biggest or the best, I'm not interested,’” Roberts joked at the exclusive dinner where the collection was viewed.
The Oscar winner didn’t feel working with such a precious stone was daunting. “I was excited,” she told PEOPLE in an interview. “You know, they don't just look at the stone and say this is what it will be.
