Remember when Nicole, played by the brilliant Arianne Zucker, left "Days of our Lives"? Dan Feuerriegel, in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, confessed that he was completely surprised by the EJ-Gabi plot twist. "I didn't see it coming when Cherie Jimenez [who plays Gabi] came into the fray," he admitted. "Obviously, when we had scenes where we were yelling at each other, I kind of started to suspect, 'Maybe they're doing something here.

A "Fun" Twist
It's clear that Dan enjoyed the surprising turn of events. "When it's a twist for me, that's just as entertaining as I feel it is for the audience," he explained. "So it was a fun, nice thing. They had a few layers in that as well, which is actually kind of cool."

But what exactly were those layers? Dan revealed that the writers crafted a complex dynamic between EJ and Gabi.
