CMA Fest 2023 was highlighted by a series of collaborations, most notably a captivating performance featuring HARDY and Lainey Wilson. The acclaimed artists united at Nissan Stadium for a memorable rendition of their chart-topping duet, "wait in the truck." This show-stopping moment occurred during HARDY's CMA Fest set and elevated the energy inside the stadium.

HARDY and Wilson, who are set to embark on a joint tour this autumn, have previously performed "wait in the truck" together at various prestigious events, including the 2022 CMA Awards, where they made their television debut with this haunting murder ballad.

Co-written by HARDY alongside Hunter Phelps, Jordan Schmidt, and Renee Blair, "wait in the truck" narrates the story of a woman trapped in an abusive relationship. Ultimately, she finds salvation when a compassionate stranger steps in and ends her torment by fatally shooting her abuser. Overwhelmed with conflicting emotions, the woman experiences relief mixed with guilt regarding her perpetrator's demise. Wilson sings this emotional journey with great intensity: "I don't know if he's an angel / Cause angels don't do what he did / He was hell-bent to find the man behind / All the whiskey scars I hid / I never thought my day of justice / Would come from a judge under his seat / But I knew right then I'd never get hit again when he said to me / Wait in the truck / Just wait in the truck."

In addition to their collaboration, HARDY also performed his new single, "Truck Bed," during the three-hour CMA Fest special, which aired on ABC. The star-studded event was hosted by Dierks Bentley, Elle King, and Lainey Wilson and featured over 30 performances and unexpected collaborations from some of Country music's hottest acts.

CMA Fest celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a record-breaking extravaganza held in Nashville from June 8 to June 11. The four-day spectacle drew an estimated daily attendance of over 90,000 spectators, marking a 12% increase from the previous year, according to the Country Music Association. Additionally, the nightly concerts at Nissan Stadium experienced a 10% growth from 2022.

The festival attracted fans from all 50 states, as well as an unprecedented attendance from 51 countries. Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer, expressed her excitement, stating, "What a weekend! The incredible connection between Country Music fans and the artists has always been our focal point. The magic endures after all these years. Many artists who perform at the festival began as fans themselves, some dating back to Fan Fair. Taking the stage at CMA Fest is a full-circle moment for many of them. We only have one chance to celebrate our 50th anniversary, and to do so in such a profound way has been truly meaningful. Thank you, Country Music!"

This year's CMA Fest featured over 300 performances across various stages, including the Chevy Riverfront Stage, Dr Pepper Amp Stage, Chevy Vibes Stage, Maui Jim Reverb Stage, and the Hard Rock Stage, as well as the Fan Fair X located inside the Music City Center.
