It's official: Carrie Underwood is returning to American Idol, but this time as a judge! And judging by the reactions of fellow Idol alum Kelly Clarkson and Idol creator Simon Cowell, the "Before He Cheats" singer is about to bring a whole new level of experience and expertise to the judges' table.
"I think that's brilliant," Clarkson, who recently wrapped up her sixth season as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, told E! News. "Like, what better person to have—somebody that's won that show to come back.
