Hi, it’s Cathy. If your half ponytail always looks flat or leaves awkward gaps, here’s a trick to turn it into a beautiful waterfall style. The key is following the steps carefully and watching the pink and blue strands in the guide. Let’s go step by step.
Step 1
Take two sections of hair from the top of your head, one on each side.
These are shown as the blue strands in the diagram.
Step 2
Tie these two blue sections together with a rubber band at the flattest part of the back of your head. This forms the base of the half ponytail.
Step 3
Pull the rubber band tight, then leave a small gap just under the tie. This little opening will be important for the twist.
Step 4
Take the pink strands
of hair from both sides of your head and bring them toward the back, directly above the half ponytail.
Step 5
Thread the pink strands through the gap above the rubber band. This step creates the beginning of the waterfall effect.
Step 6
Now twist the tied ponytail left and right, blending the blue base with the new pink sections. This makes the hairstyle look fuller.
Step 7
Gently pull the pink strands out through the loop and let them fall naturally over the rest of your hair. This gives the cascading waterfall look.
Final Step
Adjust the volume by tugging lightly at the crown and the sides. The half ponytail should now look fluffy, layered, and flowing like a fountain.
This technique transforms a simple half ponytail into a stylish look that’s perfect for school, dates, or casual outings. It’s secure, voluminous, and much prettier than a standard tie.
