Hold onto your cowboy hats, y’all, because Miranda Lambert is back, and she’s bringing the Lone Star State vibes with her! Her upcoming album, “Postcards From Texas,” promises to be a love letter to her home state, complete with all the quirky characters, heartwarming stories, and, of course, a healthy dose of Lambert’s signature sass. But one song, in particular, has fans buzzing - and it involves a hitchhiking armadillo with a penchant for, ahem, herbal refreshments.
Lambert recently gave fans a sneak peek of "Armadillo" during a pop-up show at Stubb’s in Austin, and the crowd went wild. The song, which Lambert has described as the perfect album opener, tells a story that's so Texas it hurts.
Picture this: Lambert's cruising down a dusty road outside of Amarillo when she encounters a hitchhiking armadillo.
"I met an armadillo / Out in Amarillo / And he asked me for a light," Lambert sings, her voice full of that signature twang. "I said, 'Where ya goin'? / He said, 'I don't really know / And I said, 'Brother, I been there twice ...'"
Now, we’ve all encountered some interesting characters on the road, but a hitchhiking armadillo? That’s a new one, even for Texas. But this armadillo, it seems, is full of surprises.
