Country queen Miranda Lambert is known for her straight-talking attitude and heartfelt lyrics, and in a recent interview, she didn't hold back on her thoughts about genre-bending artists. When asked about Beyoncé's foray into country music with her album Cowboy Carter, Lambert's response was simple and powerful: "I want artists to be themselves."
Speaking with Taste of Country Nights host Evan Paul, Lambert emphasized the importance of artists staying true to their roots, regardless of the genre. "Like, whatever's authentic to you and whatever you're doing right now, if you're living in your authenticity… you have to appreciate that about an artist," she explained.
It's clear Lambert isn't just paying lip service to this idea. A self-proclaimed Beyoncé fan since the Destiny's Child days, she's seen Queen Bey perform five times and even had the chance to meet her, describing the experience as "very cordial and kind.
" For Lambert, it's not about sticking to a rigid definition of country music, but rather celebrating the genuine expression of an artist's journey.
Lambert drew a parallel between Beyoncé's country exploration and Post Malone's immersion in the Nashville music scene, stating, "Just like Post Malone coming to Nashville and immersing himself in our community that we love so much… it makes me happy, and I think that's exactly the right way to do it, and I appreciate it.
