Soap operas thrive on scandal, betrayal, and romances that push boundaries—and in 2006, General Hospital delivered one of its most controversial arcs. Kirsten Storms, who plays the fan-favorite Maxie Jones, found herself in the middle of a storyline that paired her character with Lucky Spencer, portrayed by Greg Vaughan. While the drama thrilled viewers, Storms herself has recently confessed that the experience was “a little strange.
”
The reason? Beyond the wild twists written for their characters, there was also a 10-year age gap between her and Vaughan, making the storyline feel complicated both on and off the screen.
Storms recently revealed that she had known Vaughan long before their fictional affair began.
“I’ve known Greg since I was, like, 14 or 15, and to me, back then, he was a grown-up,” she explained. By the time the storyline was filmed, she was just 20 years old, while Vaughan was 30.
This history added an unusual layer to the storyline. For Storms, stepping into a romance plot with someone she had looked up to as an adult figure during her teenage years was surreal. “It was weird,” she admitted, “Of course, I always thought Greg was a gorgeous guy, but that was a little strange for me.
