Country music superstar Miranda Lambert is known for her raw, honest lyrics, often pulling inspiration from her own life experiences. But in a recent interview, the Texas native wants to clarify one thing: just because she writes about heartbreak doesn't mean every song is a tell-all about her high-profile divorce from Blake Shelton.
“I’ve built my career on being honest in my music,” Lambert explained, taking a break from her busy tour schedule to chat. “I wouldn't have a career otherwise. So whether I’m going through a divorce or something else, I'm going to keep being honest about it. But that doesn't mean all of my songs are always about what people think they're about."
Lambert’s 2016 double album, The Weight of These Wings, was widely perceived as a response to her very public split from Shelton.
While some songs undeniably reflected the pain and turmoil of that experience, Lambert insists there’s more to her songwriting than meets the eye (or ear).
These days, Lambert is focused on the present, celebrating the "full circle" moments that solidify her success beyond any award or accolade. She recently partnered with her hometown music venue, Love and War in Texas, to open a new location of her Pink Pistol boutique, a testament to her deep Texas roots.
