It’s a tough pill to swallow when you lose the ones you love, but for country music star Miranda Lambert, that heartbreak has hit hard — and in a span of just six weeks. The beloved singer shared with her fans the devastating news that both of her rescue dogs, Delta Dawn and Louise, have passed away, and the grief is as raw as it gets.
Miranda’s Instagram posts are as heart-wrenching as they are beautiful. In her first emotional tribute, she opened up about her relationship with Delta Dawn, a Chihuahua/Pug mix she rescued in 2009. "In the last 6 weeks, two of the best and most loyal friends I have ever had have left this earth," she began. The loss of Delta, in particular, has been especially poignant for Miranda, as Delta wasn’t just a pet — she was a constant companion during the highs and lows of Miranda’s career.
Miranda reminisced about their first encounter, an unlikely meeting that took place in the parking lot of a Sonic in Oklahoma. "I was just trying to get a cherry limeade, and there she was — homeless, hungry, but full of personality," Miranda recalled. Delta jumped right into Miranda’s car, as if she knew that her new life was about to begin. Little did Miranda know, she was welcoming a friend that would accompany her on countless tours, sharing the stage and the spotlight.
