Country music superstar Miranda Lambert has opened up about a truly mind-boggling encounter that many of us would never have seen coming. In a recent podcast, she revealed that she met Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the woman at the center of one of the most twisted and tragic real-life stories in recent years. The meeting occurred under what seemed like innocent circumstances—through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, no less. But looking back, Lambert admits she never could have predicted the dark turn this tale would take.
“I can’t believe I was part of that, but you don’t know at the time, and neither did she,” Lambert shared with podcast host Theo Von, her voice tinged with disbelief. At the time, Blanchard was the picture of innocence—a sweet, shy girl who had been granted a wish by the foundation. She was the face of a charity that works to make dreams come true for children facing life-threatening illnesses.
What Lambert and many others didn't know was that Gypsy Rose’s entire life was a carefully constructed web of lies—perpetuated by none other than her own mother.
Blanchard’s mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, had been deceiving the world for years. She convinced everyone around her, including doctors and nonprofits, that Gypsy was suffering from a variety of serious illnesses—leukemia, asthma, muscular dystrophy—none of which were true.
