Miranda Lambert has worn many hats in her two-decade-long career, and while most fans know her as the powerhouse of country music, there's something she’s equally passionate about that may just surprise you: animals.
Yes, you read that right. While the Texas-born singer has a string of chart-topping albums under her belt and a fanbase that's obsessed with her sassy, country-girl persona, there’s a whole other side to her that involves furrier friends and a deep commitment to making the world a better place—one rescue animal at a time.
Since her meteoric rise to fame, Miranda has managed to channel her success into causes that matter to her. In 2009, she launched MuttNation Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing animals and promoting adoption. But the organization isn’t just about collecting donations and cute photo ops. It’s a full-blown mission that’s raised over $9 million for animal welfare programs.
“It's cool to be able to share passion with your mom,” Miranda said, beaming with pride when talking about the foundation. “She’s been my biggest fan and biggest supporter. But MuttNation is something that brings us together on a human level. It’s out of the glamour, out of the glitz. It’s just about a passion of doing good for the world and saving animals.”
Miranda’s mother, Beverly Lambert, plays an essential role in the foundation’s operations, and together, they've created a legacy that’s bigger than any chart-topper.
