Country music superstar Miranda Lambert is known for her powerful vocals, her sassy lyrics, and her no-holds-barred approach to heartbreak. Her latest single, "Dammit Randy!," is a fiery breakup anthem that’s already burning up the charts. But the real story behind the song is even juicier than the lyrics themselves.
It turns out that Lambert’s husband, Brendan McLoughlin, a retired police officer with no prior songwriting experience, co-wrote the song that brought him to tears!
"He's super excited about it," Lambert gushed during an interview on Bunnie XO's "Dumb Blonde" podcast. "He won't admit it, but he got a little misty-eyed when he heard it. He was like, 'You cut my song?'"
The song's origin story is a delightful mix of playful trash talk and a husband’s willingness to step outside his comfort zone.
"One day, Brendan was giving Jesse Frasure [a songwriter] a hard time," Lambert recalled. "He was like, 'Writing's not that hard! It's easy.'"
Frasure, up for a challenge, decided to call Brendan’s bluff.
“He made Brendan come in and do a literal write with me and him," Lambert laughed. "Brendan came straight from the golf course, still in his golf outfit. We were there for like four and a half hours, writing.
