Country music superstar Carrie Underwood is known for her powerful voice and her captivating stage presence. But recently, she took her talents to a whole new stage – a church in Franklin, Tennessee.
On Sunday morning (August 11), churchgoers at Rolling Hills Community Church were treated to a surprise appearance from the country music icon. Underwood joined the worship team and choir on stage, leading the congregation in a heartfelt performance.
Carrie Underwood and her husband, retired NHL pro Mike Fisher, have long been vocal about their Christian faith. Both Carrie and Mike grew up in church, with Carrie crediting her home church in Checotah, Oklahoma, with allowing her to sing in public for the first time.
In an interview with MovieGuide, Underwood shared that it was important to her and her husband to raise their sons, Isaiah and Jacob, in church.
"Mike and I do all we can to raise our two boys with values like the ones I grew up with in Checotah," she explained. "Down-to-earth, church on Sundays, plenty of grass and trees and space outside for them to roam. At night, when we put the boys to bed, we pray out loud with them. Just talking to God, letting them know he hears their every word."
