So when I stumbled upon the surprising (and hilariously human) agreement that Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor made before filming those steamy scenes, I was all ears.

In a 2023 interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Regé-Jean Page casually dropped one of the most delightfully relatable behind-the-scenes confessions I’ve ever heard. When asked about filming those infamous love scenes, Page admitted, “Phoebe and I had horrendous coffee breath the whole way through.
”
Apparently, early on in filming, the two actors made a simple yet genius agreement: they would not give up their beloved coffee in the name of kissing scenes. “We made a pact very early on,” he explained. “It was like, ‘You drink coffee, I drink coffee. No one’s going to stop drinking coffee.’”
And just like that, the “coffee-safe zone” was born.
