Lainey Wilson emerged as the victor in the most coveted country category at the 2024 Grammy Awards last Sunday night (Feb. 4). As the fast-rising country sensation, she clinched the Best Country Album award for her remarkable album, Bell Bottom Country. During her acceptance speech, the wide-eyed singer couldn't contain her excitement, exclaiming, "This is absolutely wild, ya'll." She humorously added, "This is my first Grammys," before expressing her gratitude to her collaborators, Jesus, her fans, and more.
Notably, Wilson proudly acknowledged her background as a fifth-generation farmer's daughter and how growing up on farms taught her the valuable lessons of sowing seeds, nurturing them, and witnessing their growth. She firmly believes that having the right farming community can lead to a bountiful harvest, and that is precisely what she felt the win represented.
Wilson faced formidable competition in the category, with Kelsea Ballerini's Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, Brothers Osborne's self-titled album, Zach Bryan's self-titled project, and Tyler Childers' Rustin' in the Rain all vying for the award.
However, Bell Bottom Country had already triumphed at the ACM and CMA Awards, adding to the significance of this achievement. It is worth mentioning that Wilson had a hand in co-writing all 16 tracks on the album, except for her cover of 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up?". Notable songs from the album include her smash hits "Heart Like a Truck" and "Watermelon Moonshine."
