We've all heard about the dangers of smoking and its negative impact on health, but what about vaping? Recent insights from sleep expert Martin Seeley suggest that vaping could be silently affecting the quality of your sleep—and it might be even worse than you think.
One of the most common complaints among those who vape is waking up with an unbearably dry throat. Seeley explains that vaping can have a similar effect on your throat as smoking, causing irritation and a lack of moisture. He pointed out that the propylene glycol in vapes actually draws moisture out of your throat, leaving you with a parched feeling. "It's like waking up with your mouth as dry as a desert," Seeley noted.
As if a dry throat wasn’t enough, vaping can also cause airway obstruction. Nicotine in vapes can relax the muscles in your throat, which might lead to partial airway collapse. This can further disrupt your ability to breathe clearly while sleeping.
