‘Outlander’ Greenlighted To Series By Starz

Starz has officially ordered a new series titled Outlander, which is based on the popular fantasy/romance/adventure novels by Diana Gabaldon. The project, developed by Ron Moore of Battlestar Galactica and Sony Pictures TV, has been approved for a 16-episode season.

Filming is set to start in October in Scotland, the same setting as the books. Gabaldon accidentally revealed the news at Book Expo America 2013. The series will be Sony's first production for Starz and follows the story of Claire, a WWII nurse who time travels to 1743 and finds herself in a dangerous world of romance and intrigue.

The successful book series has sold over 20 million copies and continues to capture the hearts of readers with its captivating storylines.
