Warning: If you have not seen the eighth episode of "Outlander" Season 5, "Famous Last Words," do not read further.
The episode began with Roger and Brianna at Oxford in 1969, where Roger gave a lecture on famous last words of historical figures. Despite the initial shift from the previous episode's intense events, the episode's purpose became clear as it revealed Roger's struggle with PTSD following his near-death experience. Brianna supported Roger through his isolation, reminiscent of a Vietnam War veteran suffering from shell shock.
Eventually, the return of Ian helped Roger begin to heal, leading to a touching reconciliation with Brianna. Murtagh's death was also respectfully acknowledged in the episode. Tune in to "Outlander" on Sundays at 8 p.m. on Starz.
