Following the release of her new single and video for “Lucky” last week, Halsey has expressed deep regret over her decision to return to music due to backlash from fans. The singer took to her Tumblr page, tiredandlonelymuse, to voice her frustration and discontent with the criticism she has faced since her comeback.
In her post, Halsey lamented the negative reception she has received from her own fanbase.
“My own fans are hands down meaner to me than any other people on the planet,” she wrote. She clarified that while she wasn’t speaking for all her fans, the majority who have remained have used the platform to express their dissatisfaction with her. “It used to be just a minority that were awful to me,” she noted, “but now it seems like a majority have only stuck around to chime in occasionally with their opinion of how much they hate me or how awful I am.
”
Halsey’s disillusionment with the fan interactions comes after a challenging period in her life. Diagnosed with lupus and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022, she was initially thrilled to return to music once her health improved. However, the reaction to her latest single “Lucky” has left her questioning her decision. “When I got sick,” she explained, “all I could think about was getting better so I could come back and be a part of THIS again, but I don’t even know what this is anymore and I want to crawl in a hole and I regret coming back.
