Reports in the South African media have stated that the Springboks will not be joining the Six Nations. It was previously rumored that the Springboks were in discussions to join the northern hemisphere's annual international competition in 2025.

However, Six Nations organizers denied these reports. Negotiations between CVC Capital Partners and SA Rugby have stalled, leading to the Boks' move from the Rugby Championship being off the table. CVC has invested significant amounts of money in rugby and struck a deal with the Six Nations in 2021.
