Move over, fairytale romances and lottery wins – the real Cinderella story this week belongs to rising country star Jake Worthington. The 28-year-old Texan scored a major coup by landing not only a songwriting session but a full-blown duet with none other than his musical hero, Miranda Lambert, on his new single "Hello S--tty Day."
Worthington, known for his soulful voice and relatable lyrics, admits he had to summon every ounce of courage to approach Lambert with the idea for the song.
"I mean, she's Miranda freakin' Lambert!" Worthington confessed to reporters with a laugh. "But something about 'Hello S--tty Day' just felt right. It's a song for anyone who's ever stared down a Monday morning with a serious case of the Mondays, and I knew she could relate.
"
And relate she did. Lambert, who's no stranger to pouring her heart into her music, jumped at the chance to collaborate.
"Jake's got this raw honesty in his voice that just pulls you in," Lambert shared in a recent interview. "And the message of the song – that it's okay to have a crap day, to feel those things – it's something we all need to hear sometimes."
