Outdoor cats have a reputation for wandering and returning home, thanks to their strong senses and memory. The Lost Pet Research project has reported cases of cats traveling long distances, such as 50-80 miles in 2.5 years. One such cat, Cupid, went missing after Christmas and left his family devastated. Weeks later, the family received a message from a woman who had spotted a ginger cat near her home. To their surprise, Cupid was found a staggering 24 miles away from his home.
Even more shocking, he was found two doors down from his birthplace. India, Cupid's owner, believes that he couldn't find his way back home due to getting too far away, so he went to a place that was familiar to him. Although they were happy to have found Cupid, India and her family have decided to take precautions to prevent future escapades. Cupid has been microchipped and neutered and is currently on "house arrest." They hope that he will continue to enjoy outdoor adventures but stay closer to home to avoid causing any more worry.
