Chris Pratt's upcoming sci-fi movies need to reverse his string of disappointments in the genre, which has lasted for almost a decade. While his flagship franchise Guardians of the Galaxy contains sci-fi elements, it exists within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and doesn't reflect his success outside of it. Outside the MCU, Pratt has struggled to impress critics.

His once-promising Jurassic World franchise has declined in quality with each installment, and his fan-favorite series The Terminal List received a low 40% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Pratt's recent films, including Passengers, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Tomorrow War, and Jurassic World: Dominion, have performed poorly on Rotten Tomatoes as well. Despite this, some of these films have earned over $1 billion at the box office. Pratt's upcoming projects, such as Amazon series Mercy and the Netflix film The Electric State, have the potential to change his Rotten Tomatoes record, but only time will tell if they succeed.
