This victory came as a surprise to many, as she beat out established nominees Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, and Carrie Underwood. Wilson, who has been patiently waiting for her moment in the spotlight after spending 11 years in Nashville, couldn't help but express her emotions and gratitude.
"I never expected this at all," Wilson said, clearly moved by the honor. "I look up to every single one of the ladies in this category. They have all influenced and inspired me." But it wasn't just the recognition that had Wilson in tears. She took the opportunity to share her family's recent struggles with the audience. "A few months ago, my daddy fell seriously ill. We thought we were going to lose him. But tonight, he's here with me, and this award is for him.
I'm talking about my daddy, Bryan Wilson. I ain't talking about the Beach Boy - I'm talking about the cowboy," she said proudly, as the camera captured her father in the crowd.
Wilson also extended her gratitude to her fans, both old and new. "I may be new to a lot of people, but I promise I won't let you down," she assured them, closing out her heartfelt speech.
