Lainey Wilson made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night (Nov. 9) to perform her latest single, "Heart Like a Truck." The episode aired after the 2022 CMA Awards, where Wilson had a successful night. The Louisiana native donned a monochromatic olive green outfit, complete with her signature bell-bottom pants. As she and her band performed under dim mood lighting, Wilson captivated the audience by working both sides of the stage.
The crowd stood and swayed along to the song. Wilson's powerful vocals were showcased as she held a long note during the final chorus, accompanied by the melancholic whine of a steel guitar. This wasn't Wilson's first time performing on Kimmel, as she made her debut on the show around the same time last year, singing her breakout hit "Things a Man Oughta Know."
Earlier in the evening, Wilson had a notable presence at the CMA Awards. She took home two awards, including New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year, triumphing over big names such as Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert.
Wilson also joined Hardy on stage for a performance of their collaboration, "Wait in the Truck."
Accompanying Wilson to the awards show was her father, Brian Wilson, who served as her good luck charm. Mr. Wilson had faced significant health challenges, spending two months in the ICU this year due to a fungal infection that resulted in the removal of his left eye and several bones from his face. Throughout his battle, he underwent nine surgeries in a month and a half and even suffered a stroke.
Wilson shared her father's journey while accepting her first award for New Artist of the Year. She also playfully mentioned that her father shares his name with a famous Beach Boy, clarifying that she was referring to the cowboy, not the musician.
The 2022 CMA Awards had country stars flocking to Nashville, showcasing their best looks on the red carpet. Notable appearances included Carrie Underwood in a stunning long blue gown, Lainey Wilson rocking a velvet version of her iconic bell-bottom pants, and hosts Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning looking dapper in suits.
It was a night filled with top-notch fashion and star power at the CMA Awards red carpet.
