A 104-year-old tortoise named Big John has finally found refuge in a sanctuary after being previously abandoned by its owner. The giant tortoise, weighing nearly 220 pounds, was discovered wandering the streets of Los Angeles, confused and lonely.
Fortunately, a local turtle and tortoise rescue group picked up the distressed creature and gave it a temporary haven, awaiting a more permanent solution.
