Move over, rhinestone cowgirls, because Miranda Lambert just added another shiny trophy to her already overflowing collection! But this one's a little different. This one comes with the word "Icon" attached to it, and even our girl Miranda – the queen of Texas swagger and no-holds-barred anthems – seemed a little awestruck by the honor.
The Grand Ole Opry was buzzing on Thursday night as country music's biggest stars gathered for the 2024 People's Choice Country Awards. But the night belonged to Miranda Lambert, who received the coveted Country Icon Award, presented to her by fellow country heartthrob Parker McCollum.
Decked out in a head-turning all-black ensemble, Miranda had already set the stage ablaze with electrifying performances of her hit songs "Kerosene" and "Dammit Randy.
" But when it came time to accept the award, a wave of humility washed over the typically confident star.
"It’s so weird for me to stand up here and hold an icon award," Miranda confessed, her voice thick with emotion. "I mean, to me, an icon is who I grew up listening to. My daddy would play Jerry Jeff Walker, Merle Haggard, Guy Clark, John Prine. Those are my icons. So the fact that I get this award tonight is just blowing my mind.
