Theirs was a country music fairytale gone wrong. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, two of the genre’s biggest stars, seemed destined for happily ever after. Yet, behind the glamorous awards show appearances and chart-topping duets, there were cracks in their seemingly perfect facade. Looking back, the warning signs were there all along.
Their initial connection was undeniable. When Blake and Miranda shared a stage for CMT's 100 Greatest Duets special in 2005, the chemistry was palpable. At the time, they were both involved with other people, but their undeniable connection soon led them to call off their respective relationships.
However, Blake’s playful pranks, which he initially admitted were his way of getting a rise out of Miranda, soon became a source of tension.
"I'm always pestering her,” Blake once confessed. “I just can't get enough because she gets irritated so quickly.”
Even he admitted their relationship could be volatile. "Miranda and I have a very interesting relationship," Blake revealed. "She can get so mad at me that she just wants to punch me in the face."
