"Toby was, I think, like, my fourth big major country tour," Lambert recalled. "And I learned a lot."
But this wasn’t your average mentorship, filled with gentle encouragement and hand-holding.
Keith, known for his straight-shooting personality and no-nonsense approach, threw Lambert straight into the deep end.
"He was himself," Lambert emphasized, a touch of awe in her voice. "Know what I mean? He was, like, authentically himself. Kind of did everything his own way. An outlaw in his own way."
