Miranda Lambert, the queen of country sass, has done it again. This time, she's trading in her signature leather jackets and cowboy boots for a vibrant, animated world in her new music video for "Armadillo," a track off her latest album, Postcards From Texas.
The video opens with Lambert strutting through a technicolor landscape, a far cry from the dusty Texan plains we're used to seeing her in.
She's surrounded by bright, cartoonish creatures - think a cross between Dr. Seuss and a fever dream - and the whole thing feels like a Saturday morning cartoon gone wild.
"It's not every day you get to see yourself as a cartoon," Lambert joked during an interview with Rolling Stone. "I was a little hesitant at first, but then I saw the concept and I knew I had to do it. It's just so fun and whimsical."
The video features a wild, colorful world where Lambert, as an animated character, dances and sings her heart out.
The visuals are a stark contrast to the song itself, which is a slow and soulful ballad about a love that's as tough as an armadillo's shell.
"The juxtaposition of the song and the video is kind of what I love about it," Lambert continued. "It's like taking a big ol' dose of sunshine after a rainy day. It's just a little bit of escapism, you know?"
