Remember Damon Salvatore, the brooding, charismatic vampire who stole our hearts (and maybe a few blood bags) on The Vampire Diaries? Well, it seems the brooding heartthrob has traded in his fangs for farming boots and his supernatural charm for entrepreneurial ambition.
Ian Somerhalder, the actor who brought Damon to life, has officially declared that his acting career is "in the rearview mirror," a statement that sent shockwaves through the fandom and left many wondering if they'll ever see him grace the silver screen again.
Trading the Spotlight for Soil
"I think it’s in the rearview mirror. I do," Somerhalder confessed, adding that he's currently "building three companies at the same time, raising kids." He's not just talking about a side hustle, folks. This is a full-blown exit strategy from the Hollywood jungle, a move that's as surprising as it is fascinating.
While Somerhalder enjoyed a successful stint in Lost as the brooding and ultimately tragic Boone Carlyle, The Vampire Diaries catapulted him to superstardom, making him a household name and a fan favorite.
But after the series ended in 2017, Somerhalder and his wife, actress Nikki Reed, took a surprising turn, opting to leave the bustling world of Los Angeles for a quieter life in the countryside.
"We’re building three companies at the same time, raising kids," Somerhalder told People magazine. "We got the rights back for V Wars, but I just don’t know how the hell we would ever make a TV show."
