Miranda Lambert is back, and she's brought the sass, the heart, and a whole lot of Texas twang with her new album, "Postcards from Texas." But it's one song in particular, "Damn It, Randy," that has everyone talking. Turns out, this catchy tune about breaking free from a bad record deal wasn't just inspired by her producer, Jon Randall (whose real name, you guessed it, is Randy). It also involves Lambert’s husband, Brendan McLoughlin, a love of football, and a healthy dose of good old-fashioned payback.
After two decades with Sony Music Nashville, Lambert decided it was time for a change. She left the label in 2023, a decision that sparked a creative fire and led to the creation of "Damn It, Randy."
“At the end, it just wasn’t ideal,” Lambert shared, a hint of steel in her voice. “I was excited about moving forward, and it lit a new fire and all that stuff.
So ‘Damn It, Randy’ kind of started emerging.”
"You go, girl! It's time to take control of your career."
"Sony's loss is Republic Records' gain. Miranda's about to take the music world by storm."
The song's origins are as unexpected as its inspiration. Lambert and Randall were jamming, as songwriters do, while McLoughlin was glued to a football game.
