Miranda Lambert’s upcoming album, Postcards from Texas, is already making waves, and not just for her signature brand of country rock. This time around, the "If I Was a Cowboy" singer's husband, Brendan McLoughlin, is sharing the spotlight, earning a songwriting credit on the sassy track "Dammit Randy."

It all began during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when boredom and creative energy collided. "Everyone was at home, bored, and I’m a songwriter so I’m like, ‘Let’s write songs!’" Miranda recounted on Bunnie XO's Dumb Blonde podcast.
Brendan, a former NYPD officer, was initially hesitant, claiming he didn't know how to write songs. But Miranda, ever the supportive wife, encouraged him to give it a try.
"I was like, ‘Yeah you can, you can do it.’ So I get the guitar out, we start writing, and he’s actually really good," she shared, clearly impressed by her husband's hidden talent.
"Like he has some really good lines. I mean, being a New York police officer, he’s lived enough life to like, have some good lines in here.”
One particular song, initially inspired by a conversation Miranda had with her producer Jon Randall (whose real name, ironically, is Randy), evolved into something truly special.
