Country music stars often find themselves intertwined not only through their careers, but also through their shared love for their furry companions. This week, that connection was evident as Carrie Underwood reached out to her fellow country singer, Miranda Lambert, after the loss of Lambert's beloved dog, Waylon.
Lambert took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news of Waylon's passing, a golden retriever who had been by her side for almost 13 years.
“Today I lost one of my best friends,” she wrote. “My old pal Waylon.”
Lambert fondly recalled rescuing Waylon and his sister from the side of the road in Oklahoma in 2008.
"They were abandoned, starving and freezing nearly to death," she wrote, her voice filled with emotion. “I took them straight to the vet.
He was a rock in our family and always held down the fort."
"He lived his life with no fences,” she continued, “The way we all want to live."
Lambert’s heartfelt tribute, accompanied by photos of Waylon, touched her fans and fellow musicians alike.
