This past summer, country music superstar Miranda Lambert made a simple gesture of love and support for the LGBTQ+ community: she posted photos of herself at a Pride parade with her brother, Luke, and his husband. What should have been a joyous celebration of love and acceptance, however, took an unexpected turn when hateful comments began flooding her Instagram feed.
"I didn't even realize it was making a statement because I just thought it was normal," Miranda confessed in a recent interview with Pride Source, reflecting on the controversy.
For Miranda, attending Pride was a no-brainer. "It doesn't matter who you love," she explained. "We're all human."
