ATLANTA — The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has announced that Maria Gomez-Perez, the 12-year-old girl who went missing from her Gainesville home in May, has been found safe in another state.
Late Thursday night, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed Maria’s well-being, stating, “Maria is safe and OK.” Sheriff Gerald Couch expressed gratitude, saying, “The tireless work of our Criminal Investigation Bureau, law enforcement partners, and the community has resulted in the best possible outcome.
Our prayers for Maria’s safe return have been answered.”
Maria disappeared under circumstances that led authorities to consider her "missing and endangered." A reward of $50,000 had been offered for any information leading to her safe return.
Investigators are now focused on reuniting Maria with her family and continuing to probe the details surrounding her disappearance.
