Former President Donald Trump sustained a minor injury and one rally-goer was killed in a shooting at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 6:15 PM ET as Trump was speaking at the event.
The alleged shooter, who was positioned on a rooftop outside the venue, fired multiple shots towards the stage before being neutralized by Secret Service agents. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the suspect's identity has not been officially released, some media outlets, citing FBI sources, have identified him as a 20-year-old male from the Butler area.
Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the attack, and the FBI is actively investigating.
Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that one rally attendee was killed and two others critically injured. All three victims were adult males. Their identities have not been released.
Trump, who was reportedly grazed on the head by a bullet, received immediate medical attention.
He later posted on Truth Social, stating, "I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening."
The former president expressed gratitude for the Secret Service and law enforcement's rapid response and offered condolences to the victims and their families.
